I've used it in small (operative word being SMALL) shots to weld rail together for overhead cranes. Much like the rails the trains run on but wee need solid joints.... very scary stuff....

Very neat. I've done something similar with grounding. Copper wire is placed in a mold with a piece of rebar. A 'cupcake' is inserted in the top of the mold and ignited. A copper slug in the 'cupcake' melts and fuses the copper wire to the rebar. |

Not sure what end of the spectrum you're on in regards to this process, but if you have any references I'd love to learn about it.
