I've been playing with the wood lathe and turned out little pocket pipe with hand cut mouthpiece from Japanese ebonite.

That's pretty awesome! Have you seen Chris Morgans briar cigar?

I have seen pictures & a few videos of the Briar Cigar. I was looking to get one for a while until I started playing with making my own smokers. After I made my first pipe, I saw a guy's post where he made a cigar shaped pipe with a long flat stem. I don't like the pre-made flat look for the round cylinder shape so when I bought the briar blanks, I bought some rod stock too.

There is a lot of work in these things....more than I figured. I have been working on longer mouthpieces for a few more. I like the first one I made, but a mistake cut the length in half of what I wanted it to be. From the pictures I have seen, the Morgan Briar Cigar uses on "O" ring on the end cap to hold it in place. I ended up cutting threads in the end to give a little bite & snug it up.
