the mentos would dissolve a little in the water as it was being frozen. I wonder what effect the slightly dilluted mentos ice cube water would have on the soda prior to it melting down to the mentos....

also of note is the fact that the mentos would (sink or float) to the edge of the cube before it was frozen. so if you wanted one deep than that you would have to suspend it with a toothpick and string or something at the right height.
