Default Purchasing a TV online?

hey guys... just curious if anybody has purchased a large tv online? im in the market for a 55 LED,and ive been to best buy and other local stores and they either all suck, dont have a nice selection or are grossly overpriced.. i see great deals on amazon, and some other sites, but i was always skeptical to make an online purchase with something like this..

anybody have any advice, or any good websites to check? tv's arent my cup of tea anymore, lol

thanks fellahs

Ask the big box places to price match online stores. When 50" were still pretty expensive, I had Circuit City price match an obscure online store from the East Cost and saved me $600 from the lowest I saw.

Costco is another good option as they have low prices and excellent customer service.

Amazon is always good. Just make sure you order direct from Amazon and not 3rd party sellers.

I've bought a couple of computers from Amazon without any problem. They have a good return policy if something arrives damaged.

But If you have a Costco near by, they have pretty good prices too. Even better, they give you a 2 year warranty on TVs. I had a lemon I purchased from Costco, and after a year and a half they refunded the full purchase price.

Just make sure you are buying a brand new TV and not a refurbished one, unless of course you are looking for a refurbished one. I know when shopping for electronics online, I often see deals that look amazing, but upon closer inspection I find they are factory refurbished, not new.

If I was ordering a TV online I would need to see it at a store first. I have seen many TVs, that are better on paper, look like crap compared to others in store. I would be sceptical but many people here have ordered online and it sounds like they are pretty happy with the results.

I bought a TV from Newegg, not had a single problem. I still have it in my bedroom. Use it every night.

These days I like to buy display or open box TV's at the big-box stores, where you can arrange a decent price and people will deal with you. I go ahead and throw the store and the employee a bone and buy a 2-4 year store warranty so they make an easy buck (warranties at those stores are a pure profit maker), and the employee gets to sell a warranty and possibly a commission at some stores (which most stores really push on them to sell), and I get a TV w/warranty right around the price I wanted plus I make sure the TV will last or be replaced outright. Win all around.

These are the days of the empowered customers, and retailers know that and are far more willing to be obliging to customers who understand both sides of the field and aim for a fair deal for both sides.

I purchased a flat screen from Vanns and saved some money some years ago. Shipping was free and had to wait about 5 days for delivery. I think I saved about $400/500 at the time. No issues whatsoever.

The problem with buying a tv online is that if there is a problem with the TV, then you have to contact the place that sold it online to get a refund or exchange it. Then you get to play the shipping game, we all know thats a fun game. Make sure it is a reputable place that will actually take care of you.

I would gladly pay a little extra to be able to take a tv into an actual store if I had a problem.

I actually had to take 2 brand new TVs back to best buy one time because neither of them worked. I would have been pissed if I would have had to ship two TVs back to some online place that might not cover shipping and then wait a few weeks for a new one.

The best advice I can give you,

Get a Samsung. Lifetime warranty. If it breaks, they come out and fix it. It's a wonderful thing.

Also, the quality is amazing on the one I have.

However, it's not LED

I have a 55" Samsung and a 40" Samsung 3D LEDTV; both purchased through Amazon.com this year. I did my research prior but found their prices and quality the best at the time. The 55" was new and the 40" was refurbished. If I had to do it again, I would buy both refurbished since it came 'like new' and I basically paid around $800.00 for the new box.

I bought a 46" Samsung LCD from Amazon 3 years ago. Great price and convenient delivery. I was quite pleased with the process.

We have a Samsung 55" LED. We got it from Best Buy. We brought up the Amazon price on the smartphone, the sales person got the manager and he met the price. We were done within 30 minutes.
