If you live in Florida (like I do) how do you keep the temperature of your humidor in the low 70's as suggested. Even when home with the A/C on, the best I can do is the high 70's. During the day with the A/C up to 80 I bet the humidor temperature goes up also. Although I've never had a problem with beetles, the more I read, the more I get concerned. Any advice?

Being down here in Cuba my temps are a bit high as well. Especially when the power decides to go out for a day and inside temps reach high 80s. I have not had a problem yet. I do segregate my new cigars for a while in my tuperdor before releasing them into the gen pop.

Also, keep your Humidor away from windows and exterior walls. I got about a 5 degree temp difference doing this.

Putting cigars in a tupperware is a good method of storage but does nothing to kill or determine if you might have beetles. However, it is very easy and if you want easy then that's the way to go.
![]() The most efficient way to kill beetles or eggs/larvae is to completely freeze them for an extended period of time. There are several extensive discussions of freezing which can be found through a search of the forums. ![]() |

Reading this forum has made me adopt a 100% freeze policy before my sticks hit the box.

Of course not, but keeping them in a quarantine at least protects the rest of the collection from infestation.

But this is not true. Quarantining the cigars does not kill the eggs. They can hatch any time before, during or after quarantine... That is why people freeze their cigars...

Although I see this thread turning into another "freeze vs. no freeze" discussion ERRRR debate, I store in a Vino and have complete peace of mind. South Carolina summers can be brutal (albeit not as bad as FL)

tupperware is how I kept my smokes while I was depoyed. there was no temperature control out there except for the freezing them when I first got them.

I try and train them to be street performers, but my efforts are for naught [rimshot]

I run into the same problem no matter what I do or where I put the it stays around 77. Mines a glass top and I try to throw a rag or paper over the glass and it helps a little bit. My coolidor stays at low 70's
