MLB Trading Deadline
The MLB Trading deadline is less than 2 weeks away!!!
Who would you like to see your team acquire? Who would you like to see your team get rid of? Will there be any blockbusters? Or surprises? Now that the Rangers are starting to pull away, does King Felix get moved? For the Yankees, while the emphasis is always on pitching, I'd like to see them grab a stick! Carlos Beltran would suit my desires quite nicely. Also I would like to see them grab any Lefty specialist they could get. Boone Logan is awful. Does King Felix get moved? I wish!!!!!!

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!!! I hear if Rays are still in it after this week they get Beltran, if out of it they go after Colby Rasmus.
Yankees are going to get Randy Choate he is the best lefty specialist in the game. They are also looking at Jimenez. I can't see Felix being traded, but you never know. I think Guthrie from Balt could really help a contender, take away his Boston and Ny games and he has an era around 3.00. If Rays are selling I could see Upton going to Braves. I don't think we get rid of Shields, his contract is very friendly. I'm also wondering if we get rid Farnsworth? His stock is up he has been pretty good as our closer. |

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
I really want to see the Indians pick up a bat. Austin Kearns, Shelly Duncan, and Travis Buck just aren't cutting it.
Nothing is gonna really happen for the indians either. They are always sellers rather than buyers. |

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
Well we aren't a contender, but my Mets need pitching!!
I have also heard talks of Beltran for Upton...I'm good with that. Only down side is that whoever gets Beltran, he will be a two month rental. He is a free agent at the end of the year, so teams may not be willing to part with much for him. Just keeping my fingers crossed that someone wants Pelfrey...HE SUCKS!!! Dom...Beltran to the Yankees? And who are we getting in return?

Like you said, 2 month rental. The only way the Mets will acquire any sort of prospect for him is if they eat most of his salary. The way things are in Met land they would be happy to shed the $7 million still owed to him. Not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth!!!

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
I'd like to see the Giants get Jose Reyes from Mac, I mean the Mets, but don't think that will happen. Instead I think we end up with yet another outfielder (Beltran or Upton) to go with the 6 we already have. I prefer Upton and a change of scenery might be good for him.

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
You can have Ross. He "thinks" he's a home run hitter after what he did in the Series. He's NOT! Reyes would be a perfect fit for the Giants and the park. I'm not big on renting Beltran, but we need another bat since Huff blows this year.

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
The Rays would take Beltran so at the end of the year they get more draft picks. It seems Friedman would prefer draft picks to prospects unless he has someone he absolutely feels fits his mold. We had 10picks in top 85 this year and I think they would be content on that again.

Beltran's contract is written so the team cannot offer him arbitration at the end of the year, thus no compensation for the Mets or whoever he is traded to!

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
The Twins already have too many outfielders. No need to add yet another. I think we need a true #1 starter. Liriano shows flashes, but is FAR from consistent. Pavano is a workhorse, but doesn't have #1 stuff. After that, Baker is the best of the bunch, but is down with an arm issue. Dump Delmon Young and Kevin Slowey, and see what else it would take to get a #1, like King Felix. Getting a true front line starter is the only way they do anything in the playoffs, IMO.

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
The Yanks didnt want Beltran yrs ago when the Mets took him.
I dont see him wearing pins. I dont see him hitting AL east pitching. Unless Soriano is close, another lefty is a priority. You know what they say, location location location, oops, i meant pitching and then location. |

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
Teams do not have to make a contract offer, just an offer to meet with and have an arbitrator decide the terms of a one year deal.
The Player can decline the offer. Here is a link of the 2010 players who were offered arbitration. http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.p...ials&Itemid=39 All 8 players were offered arbitration by the Rays.

Re: MLB Trading Deadline
They won't likely trade him because he's the clubhouse leader of this team. The fact that he'll play just about any position any day is a great reason to have him on the roster. That, and the fact that he's a good hitter and having a pretty good year (lone All Star rep, leading the team in HR, though that's not saying much). Mauer won't ever be a clubhouse leader, Morneau has had health issues the last couple years, and no one else would do it.
