No, you did not make a mistake. That traveldor will provide you with decades of good service.

Typically Herfidores aren't used for long term storage due to the costs, but they are fine for it, especially in your situation. They just don't hold many cigars. You can pull the foam sheets out and store the cigars loose (bag the un-cello'ed cigars) and get about an extra 50% in capacity.

Since they seal quite well, don't go crazy on the humidification. If it were short term storage, you probably wouldn't even need humidification in there. Use something that can both absorb and release moisture - HCM beads, Heartfelt beads, Heartfelt humidity sheets or a bovedia pack.

You could also go scrounge a few empty ammo cans and wash them out, those work well for storage too. Just drop the box of cigars in and seal the lid. You won't even need humidification in one of them - one drop of water will last a year.
