The cello wrapper keeps the humidity more constant. The cigars internal RH will not change as much if you keep these wrappers on. Also, it protects the cigar from any box damage that might occur to naked cigars.

Cellophane is actually made from plant fibers, so unlike a plastic product, it's permeable.
