Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
I'll be visting Pittsburgh this week (Tuesday - Friday) for work and I was wondering if someone could recommend a good cigar bar/lounge in downtown Pittsburgh.
Thanks in advance! |

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
Allegheny Smokeworks is a GREAT B&M. When I lived in the Burgh it was the only shop I'd frequent, because the selection is unreal and the staff is great!

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
Thanks for your responses! Are there any cigar bars or lounges that are open in the evening? Since I'm going for work, I'm not sure what time I'll get out of the office and will be able to smoke cigars. T

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
Jernigans is open in the evenings. Nice lounge/bar, but not really in Pittsburgh, it's in Mt. Lebanon, so probably a 20 min drive from downtown.

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
For a nice place for dinner and smoking in town Cioppino located in the Strip District is great.
At this year's Western Pennsylvania Cigar Crawl we had dinner there. The food and service was excellent. http://www.cioppinoofpittsburgh.com/

There's a b&m right down in station square, damn if I can remember the name. Weird hours, too. There's supposed to be a real old school b&m downtown, I couldn't find it when I looked last time. Dirt floors and posters and regulars. I saw pics online before, and I think I even saw it on tv once. It's been there forever. I've never been to allegheny smoke works, but sofaman tells me it's like heaven. Edit: Blooms is the nasty downtown b&m I mentioned, Loki already posted it. Jernigans is in an upscale mall near Carnegie. It's not near downtown. I can't remember what town it's in. I'm so retarded. Grrrrr.

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
You quoted my post, Jernigans is in Mt. Lebanon. I've been to Allegheny smokeworks plenty of times, and it is definitly the best one around, unless they've opened new ones in the last 3 years, and even if so, I doubt they would beat ASW. There is another place downtown and I think it's called Smoking Joes or Smokey Joes or something. It's around market square if I remember correctly.

I could get a burger and some smokes and make a vacation out of it. I'm not sure if there's any other ASW's. I always thought it was near New Castle. I was under the impression that they were a regional distributor. I could be all confused, I'll have to ask Scott (sofaman) about it later. At any rate, ASW isn't far from downtown at all, and it looks perfect.

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
No ASW is just one B&M as far as I know. I don't think they're a distributor. It's in Blawnox, probably 10 minute drive from downtown if you take route 28 to exit 8 I believe, then just go to freeport road (runs into it) and it's on your left. It's actually a ways past the waterworks mall though. I used to be there probably every other week, as I lived in friendship/highland park, which is only about 2 neighborhoods away from where it is.

I'll definitely get a look at ASW the next time I go home that way. I won't get to see it this week, but I'm sure it'll be soon.

Re: Pittsburgh Cigar Bar/Lounge Question
You'll love it! I know that I live 45 minutes from Tampa, and there are some great stores down here, as well as culture, but Allegheny Smokeworks is by far my favorite yet.

Bumping this thread!
Will be in the 'Burgh Jan 29-30 for some youth hockey action. (and hopefully again in March for a Pens game) Was also good to see the link for the place where Greg Alauzen cooks. We met him years and years ago when he was at the Steelhead Grill. Never did get a chance to hit up Eleven when he was there. (Is it still around?)
