Default Nub maduro 464T

While my previous run ins with the Nubs (reviews here, here and here) weren't positive, except for the Nub Barberpole, I was keen to try this Nub Maduro, as I heard positive things about it, even from people that agreed with me on the other nubs. So when I saw this Nub 464T in a B&M last week, I decided to pick it up. I paid € 7.00 for it, the fixed price here in The Netherlands.

This thick short cigar is just 4 inch long but an inch wide and torpedo shaped. The cigar has a nice hay aroma with a hint of a barnyard. The construction feels good and the predraw is just fine, but almost flavorless. The cigar has a deep and dark maduro wrapper with some minor veins. It is made by Oliva in Nicaragua and it is a Nicaraguan puro.

I taste some coffee, mildly bitter and just a faint chocolate flavor. After half an inch the cigar gets a bit sweeter with a little more chocolate while the coffee fades away and with the fading coffee the bitterness disappears too.

After an inch I taste some hay with the sweetness and the chocolate. After that there is no development in flavors anymore, this is what it is and I just have to deal with it.

The smoke time of this nub is 65 minutes. During that time I got a reasonable amount of reasonable thick smoke, but the light colored ash is phenomenal. This cigar is full bodied and full flavored. The draw is fine and the burn is razor sharp.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, even though it is the best of the lot, it is not good enough for me to get a box.
