"Police are searching for 31 year-old Dennis E. Payne Jr., whose last known address was 9861 Big Bend Ave. in Baton Rouge. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 165 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 22, when the manager told police he was walking out of the store on 71711 Riverside Drive Payne.JPGDennis E. Payne Jr. when he was accosted by a man wearing a black ski mask and armed with a blue-steel revolver.

The manager, Connie Robinson, told police the man ordered him back into the store and told him to open the safe. As Robinson went to open it, the gunman told him he was going to kill him, so Robinson attacked the gunman, eventually gaining control of the gun after a fierce struggle.

The man then asked for his gun back
and Robinson refused, firing one round into the ceiling, which prompted the robber to flee into a wooded area across U.S. 190."
