Help buying teadmill

OK- my recumbent bike just isn't doing it for me. I want to get(need to get) a treadmill. However, the choices are dizzying!

I would use this twice daily, about 30 minutes at a clip. I am a heavy guy. So far I'm leaning towards this:

It does have some negative reviews, however. Seeing as I'm looking to spend about $1000, I'm wondering if any of y'all might have some suggestions.
