thoughts & prayers out to my L.A. BOTL's & SOTL's
Well, this one hit close to home...really close.
39 weeks pregnant mrsreindeer and I are right now watching helicopters out the back of our house pick up water from the ocean to use to continue fighting the fire in Rancho Palos Verdes. It started last night at 8pm and we heard planes & copters out our bedroom window and it was keepin' me from my beauty sleep. Then we got a text from a friend who was asking if we were okay. At first, I thought it was F.A.T. (you know who you are). But I thought it best to turn on the local news to find out that there was a wildfire burning out of control very nearby. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la...,7287106.story This pic was taken at the end of our street: Quote:
The good thing is that this one's 70% contained due to the tremendous efforts of the L.A. County Fire Dept., the 'Apocalypse Now'-style aerial assualt and remarkably low winds, but there are 3 more fires burning right now in the Los Angeles area. I hope the rest of you Angelenos are good & safe! We missed this one but I know a lot of folks out there are hurtin'. Thoughts & prayers going out to anyone affected by this latest round of fires, even you Trojans! Last edited by mrreindeer; 08-28-2009 at 02:59 PM. |
