His name may not be well-known to you, but he and his son played regularly in my area of New Jersey, and even at the jazz club in my town there a few times each year. Never actually saw him, but the name of that club is Shanghai Jazz, and I would often hang outside and do just that - shanghai some jazz through their open door.
