Review # 99
Price $6.- $9. Country of Origin: Dominican Republic Factory: The Quesada Factory (MATASA) Wrapper: Honduras Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Nicaragua Size: 7 Inches Ring Gauge: 48 Vitola: Churchill Number of Cigars Smoked for Review: 2 Humidity 65 Temperature 65 Resting time 35 days Prelight: Sweet barnyard hay sweet cedar, cocoa, red wine 1st 1/3 Nice beginning, with sweet spice notes, nutmeg and anise and picking up some cedar and raisin, also some floral qualities, finishing with dark chocolate and espresso. Draw is perfect and burning straight, with a light medium ash. It is a complex smoke and the body a medium full, rich and robust like I love a good cigar. Ash held on for 1 ½” 2nd 1/3 In the second third a rise in cinnamon notes with the coffee bean, nutmeg, anise notes with the main flavors of chocolate, raisins and cedar. The strength on the cigar has increased some. I’m getting no pepper but a sharp spice note that lingers on the palate Burn line is still very well behaved and straight Last 1/3 The mix of subtle flavors described begin to expand with a perfect balance Only the slightest of a nicotine kick occurred for me. This would be a great stick for a novice also in the lesson of picking up the distinctive complexity it has to offer. In the last 2” I’m getting some bitterness similar too tannic acid in tea but bitter, so I slow down to one puff a minute and mutes it a bit, still a wonderful cigar with lots of flavor. Smoking time: 1hr 40min Score: 8.8 out of 10
