El Original natural lancero
I bought this cigar at the island smoke shop on Key Largo and this cigar, made from tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Ecuador and Peru, is their house blend. It comes with 3 different wrappers, this is the natural wrapper. I reviewed the claro wrapper some time ago, use the search box on my blog to find it.
The wrapper is quite light and a little wrinkled. The construction feels good and the cigar has a nice barnyard aroma. The predraw is fine and leaves me with a peppery raisin flavor. I taste a nice wood & coffee mix and this very nice flavor is very consistent, it stays for more than an inch before the coffee disappears. When the coffee disappears I can still taste the wood and the cigar becomes a bit spicy too. Halfway the texture becomes a bit creamy and at the 2/3rd mark I get a rather nasty spicy sensation on my tongue but purging the cigar helps and that sensation is gone. Too bad that the creaminess disappeared too. I get a nice thick white smoke and a straight burn from this lancero. The ash is firm, straight and light gray. The draw is very nice. I would call this cigar medium bodied, medium to full flavored. Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, I will pick up a box when I am in Florida in november.
