The Waxingmoon experience
Hey all...
I just received my new Waxingmoon humidor late last week. I was absolutely amazed with the quality of the final product but also had a blast with the process. Ed made is such a great experience from start to finish. I thought I'd share the progress from start to finish with some pictures. To start... here were the scale diagrams I drew up for Ed to go on. You should note that I ended up adding an extra layer of trays from this initial plan. I chose Quilted Maple for the primary wood on my humidor with walnut for a contrasting wood. It took a couple of months for Ed to procure the quilted maple. Once he got it he sent me this picture of the board that was to become my humidor. The board had some knot holes that needed to be repaired and Ed used an epoxy to fill the knots instead of throwing away the knotty wood. He had to bookmatch the board to get the height that I wanted for the humidor. Here's the pictures of the front panel of the board once bookmatched. Here's a picture of the box once it was built. It wasn't a humidor at this point since it hadn't been lined and didn't have a lid. Ed wiped it with mineral spirits to give me an idea of it's finished look. |
