Shark owners... how do yours sleep?
Do you keep their 'socks' on or off? (Meaning, the red ribbon).
Personally, whenever I buy Anejo with a cedar wrapper, I toss that and the ribbon goes at the same time. Also, I leave the cello off as I don't want to damage the wrapper trying to get it back on there. For my sharks, I just leave the ribbon and - since I am doing nothing else - I leave the cello on. Haven't heard or experienced mold under just the ribbon. How bout you? |

normally I leave a cigar however I got it (with regards to cello, cedar etc.). But given recent past mold issues with the anejos in particular, I would remove all but the band just to be safe. If they were rolled/shipped/whatever as wet as last year, give them some breathing room.

Re: Shark owners... how do yours sleep?
All sticks in my humi sleep naked just like I like 'em... Seriously though I keep a box here or there with cello on, but 98% of them I take everything off. The anejos get a monthly visit to the doctor (me) for an inspection... and generally just to play with them a bit...

Not a professional shark Dr. myself, but the two I have are in the cello, cedar and ribbon just as I received them a week ago. I do keep my humidity at 65% to 60%, and have never had a mold issue.

Re: Shark owners... how do yours sleep?
I kept my sharks and opus how I got em, then found a tiny bit of mold and now I take of the ceder on all of them and put them back in the cellophane. If it just comes with the red ribbon on it, I leave it that way. =)

I like to store them as I bought them, but since there were some serious mold problems several years ago with the shipments from the DR, I strip all of my Anejos down to the stick. The cigars might not be as nice, but they are easier to inspect that way and I have peace of mind. |

Re: Shark owners... how do yours sleep?
How bad was this mold problem in the past? Picked up my mixed box today (14 sharks, 4 #55s and 2 46s) and you people are freakin me out
[RANT] Cello no cello; cedar no cedar; ribbon no ribbon. Ahhhhhhhhh. I was planning on putting the damn box in the cooler and letting em go to sleep. Now im all sorts of f'd up! [/RANT] ~Vitis |

Re: Shark owners... how do yours sleep?
I have my box of 46's in my cabinet humi with a strip of cedar keeping the lid slightly open. I check on them often and I've never had a problem....so far.
