Tootin' my own horn a little: Small landscaping project
I'm not one to give myself a lot of praise, but yesterday I decided to do some landscaping work, and was really impressed how well it came out for my first attempt at landscaping. I dug up the bed, and started the trench for the bricks last night.
I started this morning about 10:00, and finished up around 2:30. I took a quick break to get something to drink, and had to make an extra trip to Lowe's. I jacked all the plants from my wife's grandmother. They aren't the nicest or most exotic, but they make a hell of a difference compared to the dirt that was there before. The rocks were an afterthought, and were swiped from my neighbor, with his permission of course. I planted Heavenly Blue Morning Glories all along the fence, and on the other side that can't be seen in the picture. I can't wait for those to come up. They should give some much needed color. Thanks for taking the time to look. Drew P.S. - If I missed a designated forum for this, would a mod. please move to the appropriate section. Thank you! Before: After1: After2:

Good job!
Very nice! I got about 1500 of those blocks from Lowe's when they clearanced them out... I made a 40ft retaining wall three high and the rest is going to be a 12x12 patio. |

Yeah.
How about adding a refrigerator between the car and the piknik table.

Having done most of the yard work at my wife and I's first house, I will say some props are in order to you. I now know that no yard work is easy yard work. It looks simple, but I bet that was a PITA. Looking good bro!

Nice job! I like the rustic look for the brick. Everybody does the even and leveled thing, this has character.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of the compliments. It's a good feeling to take an idea, albeit a small one, and make it a reality.
The wife likes this so much, she wants me to re-do the front now. I should have known.

Quick suggestion from someone who knows all of the conducive conditions for termites,
get that mulch off of your house foundation, just leave a 3-4 inch strip of nothing where it touches the house. It will NOT look that bad, and termites will use that mulch pile to bridge your termite protection. |
