| Bring the pain! | Famous ancestors?

So my other thread asking about what type of work you guys and gals do seems to have gone well. So I thought I would ask another. Again, if there is an existing thread, I couldn't find it, so please feel free to shut this down if so. So who are you related to that is famous, infamous, well known, etc. I'll give this a go. My Great Great Grandfather, Great Great Grandmother, and Great Grandfather we're all passengers abourd the Titanic whilst she was making her trip across the pond. Encyclopedia-titanica.org lists them as 3rd class passengers, but I have always heard they were actually in steerage which is worse than 3rd class. My Great Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather both made it off the Titanic and onto the Carpathia. So I guess I would consider myself part of the really freaking lucky gene pool. If anyone is interested, here's a link http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org...goldsmith.html So who are you folks related to?

My 4th Cousin (twice removed) is Francis Ouimet. Winner of the US Open in 1913. His golf exploits were documented in the Disney movie "The Greatest Game Ever Played" It's considered to be one of the greatest upsets in sports. I do not share his golf talent. |

You guys know that iconic statute of the Minuteman? Also serves as the emblem for the National Guard? Well, that is an actual person, my GGGGGGrandfather, Capt. John Parker of the Minutemen. Also had an ancestor come across on the Mayflower. Also had a bunch of horse thieves and bandits. Ah, genealogy- dontcha just love it!

My 4 or 5 times great-grandfather (can never figure out which) is David Ricardo, father of the modern classical political economy. In addition to his economic theory's and influences he also owned Gatcombe Manor in Gloucestershire which is now the country estate of Anne, Princess Royal.

Well, wife's dad is a first Generation immigrant from Scotland and has direct lineage to William Wallace. Our son, by chance ended up being named Liam Wallace Blair so his name is actually from famous ancestry.
