A sweet cigar review!
I just had the cigar experience of a lifetime! I wanted to share it with my fellow BOTL.
Apologies for the bad picture quality, it was a spur of the moment, cell-phone shot. Country of Origin: United States Wrapper: Phyllo Bread - Domestic Binder: Unknown Filler: Ganache - Switzerland, I think? Shape: Robusto...ummm, yeah Robusto Size: 6 X 150 (as big around as a baby's arm) Draw: Tighter than a virgin at a p*rn convention Burn: Horrible! I never could get it lit! I finally just had to eat it! Construction: Good The first 1/3 of this cigar was rich and creamy with definite chocolate notes. The second 1/3 offered a blast of cocoa/chocolate with a slight hint of spice (cinnamon maybe?). The last 1/3 was more medium-bodied with a touch of whipped cream, more cocoa/chocolate, and hints of exotic spice. Never any peppery note at all. And I nubbed that b*tch to the end: Notice the unique nubber laying in the ashtray. OK, OK, OK. While at my regular Thursday night HERF recently, a fellow BOTL told us about this restaurant (Terra in Hillcrest, if anyone cares) and it's unique dessert. So, last night, I decided to take the wife out to the spot. We had a good meal, my wife had the lobster Mac & Cheese, I had a good flatiron steak. For dessert I had the "Warm Chocolate Cigar". It is chocolate ganache wrapped in phyllo bread and sauteed. Served in a honest-to-gawsh glass single cigar ashtray. (Nice damned ashtray, I wanted to take it home). I thought I'd have some fun with it here. Hope you enjoyed my review. Last edited by RazzBarlow; 02-20-2010 at 10:40 AM. |
