Default AND Another Thing... Weathermen

WHY do they talk like THAT when they are donig the forecast. Wierd tone fluctuations and mostly monotone. This seems (around here) only to apply to weather MEN. Weather WOMEN seem to know how to talk normal. I am talking about local networks, not so much with the folks that guess the weather nationally...

C'mon, you know what I mean

My experience is that, when nervous, men speak in a monotone or other stilted style. Women not so much.

They make six figures to entertain with forecasts that are wrong 80% of the time.

Pay me $250K a year for that job and you won't believe the tone fluctuations I will make.

Oh man, go to any academic conference. I don't think there is a way to make the human voice more boring. The fun bit is watching the top names in your field fall asleep in the back (or not) of the room. Unless you're presenting, then it's absolutely horrifying

I'm with the Admiral. You pay me that kind of money to dish out basically worthless info, I'll sing, dance, play the kazoo and do a little soft shoe.

Half the time they can't even predict the rain out here until they look out the window, and then they act like they knew it was really going to rain all along. What a gig!
