Default Digital Camera Suggestions

Allright, it is time for me to get a new camera. I currently use a Kodak Easyshare LS443 that I bought back in 2003. It has started to go south on me and only a couple of the modes work on the camera.

I would like to get another camera (probably some good deals about this time of the year). I am looking to spend anywhere from approximately 300-500 dollars for it. I would be willing to spend a little more if you can talk me into it.

The only requirement is that I want it to have a rechargeable dock. I don't want to be messing around with changing batteries.

What do you all think is a good camera? I have heard that Cannon's are good, but I don't know the first thing about cameras.

Thanks!

Dan, I have enough camera equipment to fill a truck.
You don't have to spend a lot of money anymore.
I use a Kodak Easyshare V1073 touchscreen for my everyday camera. It takes excellent pics, has a huge touchscreen lcd, and Kreuznach glass.
It takes awesome HD movies, and has an antishake feature that makes them viewable.
I got it at Wally for about 200 bucks, maybe 250. I couldn't be more pleased.

I got this for my wife for our anniversary last year, and she still loves it. It's a bit bulky, but it takes GREAT pictures. Canon G-10

That is a really nice camera. Canon is awesome stuff. Their color reproduction is incredible.
It's tough to give up portability though. It's nice to be able to put the camera in a pants pocket.
I saw a little Sony Saturday at Wally that had Carl Zeiss glass. It was awesome, the cool factor was off the charts. I'm sure it'd take great pics.
I'd still choose my Easyshare because the touchscreen is so cool and I can scroll through pics by sliding them and "throwing them". It's very durable, too.
It's so incredibly cool I could go on forever about it.
I'd like to try the little Sony I saw just because Zeiss glass is the best and their cmos's are second to none. I'd break it in a week, though.

Sorry, I didn't mean that it had to have a dock. I just want a rechargeable battery. I don't want to have to keep throwing away batteries and putting in new ones.

I don't think you can buy a digicam with regular batteries in it anymore unless you go to the dollar store.
You'll be fine.
They just hook up with a usb cable to transfer pics, and ythey usually come with a wall charger and you plug the usb cable into it if you don't have a puter handy.
Go to Wally and play with the ones on the rack.
It's fun.
Find one you like and go from there.

Staples usually has some nice cameras, and with Black Friday looming, you'll probably get one for free.

Why look at the G11 when the S90 does everything just as good and weighs less?

I'm in the market for a new camera and I'm looking at the Canon's. The SD 980 IS looks good as does the S90. Just seems like they aren't putting out as good of quality products as they did a few years ago in the point and shoots.

I will have to definitely look at that Kodak shilala is talking about.

I had Powershots for a while now, the S1 and S10, just bumped up to a Canon XSi

A pretty cool DSLR that I still don't know how to use
