minor thread jack....
Speaking of SEC football and wrestling, I was sort of surprised to see Kevin Green is now an assistant coach with Green Bay. I was wondering what he did following his short stint in the WCW.

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Gators will win whether or not Tebows in. Lsu doesn't have a convincing win yet and they were one penalty away from overtime with Georgia. John Brantley is probably more accurate a passer than Tebow and gets the ball out quicker. This should be a fun game to watch.

yeah that was at USC but Flair personally is a Gator fan, he's been to several games at the Swamp on the sideline.
Here's the proof: http://extrapoints.blogs.gatorsports...ty-gator-fans/ look under "other celebrity Gator fans"

ESPN.com reporting that Tebow's status will be a "game time decision".

I pray he plays because if he doesn't, and LSU wins, they will say it's because Tebrow didn't play.

If I were an LSU fan, I would want Tebow to play too, Jimmy... "To be the best, you gotta beat the best".

Quote:
sets up. Penalty or no penalty, you can't discount a LONG runback of the kickoff from Speedy Jones, Trindon Holliday, and LSU drove the field on the ensuing drive. All the Tigers NEEDED was a field goal to WIN. We scored a TD instead. You are telling me that 15 yards makes a difference? I don't get it. YES, the penalty was unfair, but the Tigers are playing the bulldogs in their home stadium. This sounds like the gripe of a fan who came into Tiger Stadium and got penalized unfairly. (And there was a 'make-up call" given) What difference does 15 yards make when a kid runs back a kick 40 yards? What difference does 15 yards make when all of our receivers are blanketed and our QB rips off 26 yards in a run (setting up a chip shot field goal win? What difference does 15 yards make when we could have kicked a winning field goal on 3rd down and ended the game? Was the penalty for Excessive Celebration a hose-job? Sure. Is it why LSU won? Not the way I see it. LSU has a great ability that no one can take away from them. We win games late bacause we want it more. We take complacent teams who score in the last two minutes and their fans are peeing on themselves in joyous exuberance and we turn them into crying teenagers felt up on prom night. I felt sorry for the GA fans they were close-upping in the final minute on CBS, even as I was laughing my a$$ off. I can hear Vern Lundquist now, "All he ever wanted since he was a kid was to be the quarterback at UGA, and now he has won the biggest game of his life in convincing style." Whoops...hold on there, Verno. I KNOW that I am focusing all my anger, for ALL THE PEOPLE who say and think that a penalty LOST it for UGA, on YOU, or it seems that way, but I am really not. I am only setting the record straight. No one and I mean NO ONE is giving the Tigers a chance on Saturday, and I am here to tell you that they are ALL wrong. I WILL gladly pay my 5 cigar bet off should we lose, and I will be here to take the abuse should we lose, but at least I get to say it now, NO WAY LSU loses this game. Sorry Timmy Tebow. And my good friend Jackie Sherrill said it best. He said "I had a QB named Matt Cavanaugh, and everyone wanted to know if he was going to play after a concussion, so I asked his father what he wanted me to do, and he said play him if you want him, so I decided right there NOT to play him, but I told the press he would play if he was ready. He didn't play, but I forced the other team to change their entire game plan. He even warmed up on the field prior to the game, but he didn't play." THAT is what Urban Meyer is doing to Les Miles, but the trick is, Les Miles doesn't care, he is playing FLA, not Tebow. Good luck Gator fans. |

Re: Official SEC Football Thread 2009
Oh I would never welch on this bet, it was a lot of fun striking it up. Even my previous rant for which Tom told me to
chill out is only based on my intense desire to get it on. I am so ready for this game. It will be tough to get through a day of awesome football to get to 7pm central. The day is really set up for a SEC football fan. What a lineup on tap. I do not believe that Tebow will play much. I'd be willng to bet he goes in and delivers a real hit on a LSU defensive back just to show he is not sitting out out of fear. I also can see a scenario where he just plays, medical condition be damned. Stupid, but not unlikely. I am not worried about the QB. I am only mildly concerned about the defense which is formidable. Mostly I think it will be simply the best game of the year. Look for a breakout game by Randle at WR for LSU |
