Default Butane type for jet lighters ???

Hi...

I'm wondering if there's a particular type.. or "better" type of fuel
for jet-torch type lighters.
Does anyone know anything about this?

I just got a new triple jet cigar lighter, and it "flames out" at anything
less than the highest flame setting... and its way to much.
It doesn't toast the foot.. it anihlates it.

Right now I'm using just some Ronson fuel that was on hand.

Is there a better/more pure fuel for the purpose?
Is it something else? Am I missing something??

Thanks in advance!
Greg

I use Lava (Five Times Refined) mostly, but also use Vector. I've had NO problems with either one. I don't use anything else but the above two. That's not to say they're aren't others out there, but if it ain't broke...

Also, make sure the flame (or in your case, FLAMES) doesn't actually touch the foot itself.

My friend is much more butane savy than me and he looks at Ronson fuel like a steaming pile of dung. He says it will turn a jet into a sputter in one refill. I didn't want to risk it so I ordered some Vector.

I'm a longtime Vector user; but I might buy some Lava once I finally run out.

As for killing the foot ... just hold the lighter further away.

I've been using Xikar butane in my lighters and it works great!

It sells around here in the B&M's for $5 a can. If I can't get Xikar, I use the Vector butane. I've never tried (or seen Lava locally), but might try that if I see a can.

I just Vector for the nice lighters or freebees w/ purchase. Also have 20 or so Ronson lighters hanging around, they run just fine one anything..... For $3 they are just about indestructible....

Hey Gents..
Thanks for the info!

So its the butane quality then..
I had a feeling.

As far as holding it further away:
Even when you hold it real far, its still a bad thing.
Its just set to high.. to intense.
It wants to blow tobacco out of the foot!

I'm sure the good quality butane will permit setting the
jet-flame to a nice low setting.

Anyone happen to know where to locally buy the premium
brands here in south florida?
The shipping when buying online is killing.

Thanks again,
Greg

You could buy Vector online at CI and find a code for free shipping here
