The only problem with the sponge idea, doesnt the chemicals in it have the possibility of entering the beads and staying there, clogging the pores over time?

You only use the sponge until the humidor is seasoned and holding humidity, then remove it.

Use a clean new sponge and distilled water and their shouldn't be any chemicals.

Cool thanks for the replies guys. I know some sponges come like premoistened so I instantly thought of the chemical process it takes to keep them that way. Will 2 large sponges be enough for a small cabinet humidor 5 cubic feet?

I Used Boveda Seasoning Packs On All My Humidors & They Worked Great. I Would Think Slow & Steady Would Be The Way To Season With Sponges.
