storage question
ok, I know sealed tins are good to go, so this is my question
bulk stuff that's in baggies, how long will it be ok in the ziplock? if it's a couple oz I plan to smoke within a month or three, will it be fine for that? if I find something I like and buy a lot(to store for a while), is a bag ok? or do I need to mason jar it? open tins, can I just put them in a ziplock and count them to be ok for a few months? thanks in advance guys -Tim |

Re: storage question
For storing long term mason jars work great for bulk tobacco. Once I open a tin I put the tobacco in a small jar since I only smoke the tinned stuff occasionally (bring out the good china for guests, lol) but that's just me. I double ziploc bag the small amounts of loose stuff and smoke on it for up to a month, keeping that handful of baggies in an old humidor just to keep it all together. I don't have a large tobacco cellar and I smoke enough to keep my tobacco on hand down to a very manageable level so someone with more XP will have to weigh in if you need more info.
How are you liking your foray onto the pipe side of the tracks? Slumming it up with the rest of us, ha ha! |

Re: storage question
Being a new pipe smoker myself I personally only have 2 tins a a small mason jar (i think thats what its called its the kind with a gasket and a latch.) I wanted to ask if the humidity disks for pipe toback is only for when you have it in a pouch correct? I think i am keeping my stuff right but I should get some more of those jars. Personally I have trouble opening up tins they seal up TIGHT and would prefer them in jars.
