Re: It's times like this I am glad I have a lock on my cabinet
My boys didn't know I smoked cigars until they were 8. They didn't want me to die. After I assured them I wasn't going to, they're OK with it.

My 4 yr old likes to sit by me when I clean out my humi and smell my cigars. He'll hold then up to his nose and sniff the foot. I'm screwed when he turns 18.

I was looking through the humidor one day when my son was 10, and he saw me and asked, "you getting out a cigar? If so, I'll go grab my fishing gear."
Amazing that he equated the two as intimately tied together as that.

haha, when my Dad, Brother, and I are together it's similiar, and rare since one of us is in KY, MI, and I'm in MA. We just kinda slip off to the back deck, and within minutes we're all light up. Drives the Women crazy. Great bond that I wouldn't trade for anything! You're a lucky man! |

Oh shoot, great reminder! My grandkids are only a few months old so they aren't mobile yet. All my cabinet doors are child proofed but I forgot about my cigar fridges!

I remember being on the phone with my buddy and he was home with his 2 boys....ages 3 and 5....I could hear them in the background screaming and laughing...then all the sudden one of them emerges from Daddy's room with 2 fist fulls of bolivar corona gigantes....

My 5 year old son always has to wear the cigar band as a ring when I'm done smoking. Apparently they give him powers a la He-Man.

Well, my son is 15 (experimental age) so the Liquor, Gun and Cigar cabinets are all Locked up. More for when his friends come over than for him.

Re: It's times like this I am glad I have a lock on my cabinet
We're expecting our first in July and it has definitely occurred to me that I'm going to need to get some stuff organized and put out of sight. The cigars should be fine in the cooler in the closet, but I've got bottles of homebrew all over the house. When he gets to a certain age I'm going to need to keep an active inventory of everything.

Re: It's times like this I am glad I have a lock on my cabinet
I walked into the living room one day and saw my 4 year old sitting on the couch. She had her legs out straight and crossed at the ankles, crayon in her fingers holding it to her lips. I asked "What are you doing?" her reply was "I'm a moking." "We don't smoke" I said, she replied "Aunt Karen does and I do" and she does at age 30.

Re: It's times like this I am glad I have a lock on my cabinet
My youngest has taken over one of my unused corn cobs. She took a pipe cleaner and stuffed it in the bowl and walked up to me asking for a light. I nearly lost my drink. Now when I am out having a cigar as I cook she will come out with her pipe. It is funny how the kids want to imitate us.
