Purging "enhancement"

I never understood the rationale behind the flame either, and have always purged sans flame. A buddy of mine, not as into cigars as me, stumbled onto the purging technique one night back in the mid-90s when we were out drinking large quantities of Guinness and smoking many cigars. I've been doing it, as needed, ever since.
