Default What do you do with your coffee grounds after using a press?

Will it cause problems if I continually put the grounds down the drain through the garbage disposal? Just wondering what you guys do or suggest?

Grandma used to put them in the Compost pile. Mine go down the drain (no compost pile) and have not had any problems in the 2 years I have been using a press.

I put mine in the garbage, out in the yard, or sometimes in the disposal.
Occasionally, if I put them in the disposal, they get in the drain line for the dishwasher.. just a note.

Compost is your friend. Next time you have an amazing home grown tomato you can say "damn that's a fine cup o coffee"

Better have a plumber's name handy if you dumping grinds down the drain. I have had it happen in three different homes and have learned my lesson

I dump them in yard as compost. Don't keep grounds in house covered, maggots love coffee grounds to settle into

I put mine in the garden area. If I'm lazy, they go to a potted plant.

I used to put them down the drain, but thought to myself, these would do some good in the garden!

If you intend to use coffee grounds as a fertilizer base, check and balance the ph before getting too involved.

Fertilizer gets my vote too. We have a composter on the counter that is covered with a carbon filter, the beans go in it. Coffee is the only thing I compost during the winter, takes a while to fill the can and then out to the pile it goes. Keep it covered so no bugs get in it.

either the lawn, or the pucks go from knockbox to garbage can. It definitely never hurt my St Augustine grass.

I empty most into the trash, but a small amount goes down the drain when I rinse our press... I will definitely be adding some to our balcony garden when spring arives.

Never use a French Press. What are the benefits? I use an auto drip maker with a gold filer, I love the coffee it makes, but what's all the fuss about the press?

I don't know the theory behind it, but it sure is good and liked it out of the french press more so than the Keurig I had. Then again, I like the cold brewing even more because it cuts down the acidity a great deal.
