I like using the Rocky to make Turkish coffee when someone reminds me to make it. I shell the cardamon seperate and mix in. Sometimes, if the grinder is low on beans, I'll grind cadamon with the beans which is the proper way.

Re: Rocky....To Dose or Not To Dose?
Wow!
I am a believer now. What a difference in the grind. Came set to 8. Didn't search zero. Didn't have time as needed to run to a conference call and was dying to try some fresh ground espresso. Simply dialed to 7 to see what would happen and love the grind at that setting. Finally got lots of creme and a taste in the coffee only found in Miami cafes. Man I am in love. Now I know what you guys have all been raving about. Wow! Here is my new toy next to his lover:

Good. Now you are rocking! Looks like the machine and grinder have been updated since I bought mine.
The grinder settings are particular to each grinder. Your "8" setting is more like my "-5" setting to make espresso.

Looks great.
I notice the steam wand on the right and seem to always remember it being on the left, unless I am nuts.

You guys would know better than I would about the Silvia.
Mine is on the left and the Gaggia before was too. No big deal, I was just curious. Carry on, espresso warriors.

Remember, there are many versions. I have V3. My heart is racing. I have had so much espresso today. Can't believe how fine this grinds. Compared it to the ones that were fresh ground for me at Kana and no comparison. I can see why the creme now. I am so screwed. Now looking at a nifty bean vac container for my beans. $39 but looks well worth it. The next hobby idea I get the answer will be "NO MAS".

If you keep consuming at this continued high rate, you will have no need for a toy to keep your beans fresh, Carlos.

Re: Rocky....To Dose or Not To Dose?
Wow do I get it now.
Learned how to alter my brew time and coffee consistency (richness/strength) by way of changing grind setting. Played around with all ranges from 7 to 12. Found that for our taste, with these particular beans, 8 is the way to go. New tamper should arrive today. I am all espresso'd out for the day as am typing at twice the speed I normally would.

I have been looking at them. There is no end in sight. I haven't even gotten my new tamper and have been looking at a few European ones that either have a spring or the one that clicks. This is yet another sickness.

Re: Rocky....To Dose or Not To Dose?
Cannister is cheap and I use pen style meat thermometer which is like $5 and works fine.

Re: Rocky....To Dose or Not To Dose?
stopped in Crate and Barrel yesterday and saw a nice frothing pitcher with the clip on thermometer for 15 bucks and almost bit.
Personally, I see no use for the thermometer though as once it's steamed and frothed, I stop and do my thing. It's plenty hot.
