So Why did you join the Asylum?
I started a thread like this at the CS sight at a time when there was nothing but doom and gloom about the upcoming changes. It was interesting and uplifting to hear why each member joined. Some positive reinforcement at a time that needed it.
I believe (although I'm not sure) that this site was born out of the chaos on the other board. I originally lurked around here out of curiosity. I saw many of the old posters here, and many that post on both. There was a comforting sense of the familiar here, and decided that being a member of both forums would broaden my horizons. So..... I have two questions. Why did you join CA? How many other cigar related forums do you belong and actively post to?

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
I just got the invite and joined. I don't believe any forum is better or worse than this one. In the end, they all serve their purpose and it's great if there are different forums with different goals & personalities to accommodate all us different cigar smoking folks. I'm a member of 4 other boards but post more often here.

In truth, CS kinda died when everyone moved. It has picked up, and I still check it out everyday, but I came over here to be with the friends and B/SOTL that I know and love. Simple as that.

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
i joined as a continuation from the previous site where we were all monkeys...i will never leave this site, and for those of you who have read of my recent life activities and the overwhelming support of the inmates you will understand why. There are the best people here. it is so rare to find such a place, consider yourselves very blessed to be surrounded by such prisoners. if you have yet to be in a tough spot you might not fully appreciate or really know the character of these people, if you have gone through a rough stretch then i'm sure you know...if you have let us know. i say that as an encouragement to all of you out there who might be to proud to open up and let us know if you are in a pinch. please let the bro and sis's know and you will be BLOWN AWAY!!!

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
I sought out a nice cigar forum to learn from and hopefully grow my cigar knowledge. Maybe broaden the cigars that I smoke?
When I watched the folks that had ran the ape show start to pack up and leave, I made the decision to come here and be with the people that helped grow that forum to what it was. I still skim CS from time to time, but this is the only other forum for ceegars that I even look at. You guys gotta help me get away from Padron, RP, and Mr. Pepin............ |

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
Was sent an invite and saw everyone I had been forming friendships with online over here so it was a no brainer. Still belong to the other site but post almost exclusively here.
Besides the voices in my head told me too,

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
Well, I tried to MASShole banter over at CS but since all the MASSholes were here I ended up talking to myself alot.
Seriously though, the 11 have provided us with a great, comfortable place to socialize. Do I still visit CS, yeah... but my visits are very brief...to check any random PMs, etc. I havent posted there in several weeks and dont even view the new posts. There is some info available on CS that isnt YET available on CA... YET

Re: So Why did you join the Asylum?
At first I moved here because most of my friends moved. I continued to lurk and post occasionally on CS. But then Richard(tzaddi) made a very insightful post about not wanting his posts used for commercial purposes. That is now the nature of both CS and Top25, anything you post becomes Jon Caputo's property. I dont like the idea of my intellectual property(feeble as it may be) being used to enhance someone's pocket book.
