Macanudo 1968
So there is a bunch of advertising that this stick is something you should not expect from Macanudo.
Has anyone tried one? I have to admit Macanudo got me started into cigars, but I also have not smoked one in years. Anyway they are doing the 3 for $7.95 offer if anyone is interested. I searched but did not see this had already been posted. http://www.macanudo1968.com/index.asp |

Re: Macanudo 1968
I had one from a 3-pack offered on the web and it wasn't bad. I think they are trying to emulate the Pepin spice thing. I don't know that I'd buy them again but it was definitely not super-mild like most Macs.

Re: Macanudo 1968
I agree with Cap'n Silly....definitely not a mild cigar, pretty tasty. I enjoyed it and you can't beat that deal....3 for 9.95 including shipping...why I pulled the trigger on this deal about a month back.

Re: Macanudo 1968
Smoked one a couple of weeks ago when the Macanudo rep was at my local B&M. She was giving one to everyone who came in which was really nice. My take on it is that it is a pretty good cigar with more flavor than other Macanudos I have smoked. The flavor improved as I smoked it and I bought a couple more to put in the humidor for later. I didn't have a lot of time to sit and enjoy and really rushed through it. There were some burn issues about halfway through.

Re: Macanudo 1968
I've wasted $10 on worse before so I went ahead and bought the three pack.

Re: Macanudo 1968
I got my 3 last week. A good looking cigar. I'll try one in a couple weeks.

Re: Macanudo 1968
They look bold but frankly, I find them on the lower end of medium. Much like the robust. Typical Mac, imo.

Re: Macanudo 1968
I'm with Radioman - more Mild than Medium - personally, I was expecting much more from a Mac than the one dimensional flavor profile that we ALL experienced.....maybe we got a bad box??
It was nice to see that Mac FINALLY stepped out of their comfort zone when developing this cigar!!! |

Re: Macanudo 1968
I think this is a pretty good cigar, but it is not worth its MSRP IMO. I did get me a couple of those 7.95 sampler offers though.

Re: Macanudo 1968
I have enjoyed the 3 1968's that I've had so far very much, I find them to be fairly complex without being overly spicy or strong.
The burn issues and the outrageous MSRP are the only thing that keeps them from being a 10 for me. |

Re: Macanudo 1968
I too got the 3 pack special. Didn't much care for them.

Re: Macanudo 1968
They sell these around here for $8.50 - $10.00 for a single. They are DEFINITELY not worth the price tag. Better than a typical Macanudo, but the cost prevents me from ever buying another.
