Tea, Yerba Mate & Cold Weather
Cool weather has finally struck the Carolinas. Cooling off doesn't mean no more coffee in the morning - it just means:
TEA AND YERBA MATE IN THE AFTERNOONS AND EVENINGS!!!! (woo hoo) I broke out the teapot and the neat tea mugs with lids this weekend. Darjeeling leaves are all over the counter and the mate is lined up for a sipping Sunday kind of thing. Special thanks to Seangar and MithShrike for teaching me the joys of green teas and yerba mate. You be tea?

Lapsong Suchong is my cup o tea. Yerba Mate nice and nutty. I'm a loose tea drinker, usually get my stuff from UPTONs in MA.
I have been using a chai mix with vaniolla soy that just rocks! Tom |

I was surprised how much I grew to like mate after just a few cups. I lean to a small amount of honey in mine.

Re: Tea, Yerba Mate & Cold Weather
Made some mate' today that Mithshrike sent me last year. The first couple of times, I made it with too hot of water right away, and got a bit discouraged because it turned out horribly bitter, today, I got a nice smooth mate' from the french press, just had to put enough cold water in the leaves to temper them a little from the hot water.
Good stuff. |

Ah good. More Mateneers.
It's been a little while since I've had mate. I've been trying to avoid the stimulants (heart murmur and TIAs have been bugging me) but I think I'll have some tomorrow. |
