Braves Anouncer Retires after 33 years!
Pete Van Wieren surprises with retirement!
Atlanta Braves broadcaster of 33 seasons decides to make exit......... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...=.jsp&c_id=mlb I am happy for "The Professor" but this along with Skip Caray's passing marks an end to the Braves announcers I grew up with and I am feeling a little sad about it. I hope Pete enjoys the rest of his life and I hope he will make an appearance or two every now and again in the booth. He never had that signature line but he was always the most knowledgable announcer and when he called a game it was always about the players and never about him.

You are right my friend... he was a class act. Always enjoyed his broadcast when we lived in Augusta. He will be missed.
Guess I'm starting to show my age when these announcers I have listened to most of my life are retiring and passing away. Anybody seen my walker? |
