Tatuaje Nuevitas Jibaro No.1
One of the first Tatuaje Cigars ever released was the Tatuaje Nuevitas. And those were not made at El Rey de Los Habanos, the factory owned and operated by the Garcia family. It was the only Tatuaje line ever made outside of the family, at Tabacalera Tropical. But in 2007, Pete Johnson discontinued the cigar and all Tatuaje cigars since have been made at My Father Cigars.
In 2018, Johnson re-released the brand. This time made at My Father S.A. in Esteli. It is a Nicaraguan Puro with a Corojo 99 wrapper. The name comes from a Cuban village and the Jibaro name is Puerto Rican slang for farmer. The Tatuaje Nuevitas Jibaro is Johnson’s tribute to farm rolled cigars and based upon a farm rolled Cuban cigars he had years ago while visiting the Caribbean paradise. Name: Tatuaje Nuevitas Jibaro Country: Nicaragua Factory: My Father S.A. Size: 5×54 Vitola: No.1 Wrapper: Nicaragua (Corojo 99) Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Price: € 10,00 Cutter: Xikar X2 Lighter: single flame Smoke conditions: indoors with ventilator Smoke time: two hours twenty minutes Purchased at Cigaragua THE REVIEW The first thing that is noticeable is the foot of the cigar. The wrapper is a little shorter than the filler. That is not a construction error, that is what Johnson intended with the looks of the cigar. Farm rolls are often more rustic looking. The wrapper, with the thin yet sharp vein, adds to that look. The wrapper is dark and oily. The darkness and shine are a perfect contrast to the simple, classic yet sharp and contemporary ring. The orange and white compliment the darkness. The triple cap is perfect. The cigar has the aroma that fits a full-bodied cigar. It is strong and has a smell of wood and farm animals. The cold draw is great, it has a spicy raw tobacco flavor. Once lit, the cigar has an earthy coffee flavor. The moment the wrapper catches fire, the flavor changes and a very strong pepper shows up. A few puffs later, the flavors are coffee with leather and toast, still with pepper. The flavors evolve to earthy notes with oak and a hint of dark chocolate bitterness. On the background, there are spices like nutmeg. After a centimeter, the flavor profile has spices like cardamom, nutmeg, and allspice combined with dark chocolate and pepper. All the flavors are bound together by some citrus acidity. At the beginning of the second third, a strong hazelnut flavor appears, with some leather and pepper. The pepper is gaining strength. The final third has oak and pepper. During the last part, the flavors are hay, leather, and an overpowering pepper. The draw is close to perfection. The right amount of air resistance without becoming tight. The smoke has a good density and volume. The burn is straight. It is hard to keep the cigar lit though, leave it unattended for just a little too long and it dies. Quicker than most cigars of this ring gauge,. This is a full-bodied, medium-full flavored cigar. There is a heavy nicotine content in this blend. The smoke time is two hours and twenty minutes. Strength: full Flavor: medium-full For the final score with a scientific diagram, a video and pictures, go to: https://ministryofcigars.com/tatuaje...s-jibaro-no-1/
