Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
Wow I had a Drew Estate Nica Rustica Toro last night and it was a complete stunner! Copious amounts of smoke, I mean really the smokiest cigar I've had in a while! And STRONG too, luckily I had just eaten an enormous meal before I lit it, otherwise I would have probably been in trouble! Which is saying something, as I'm able to smoke 601 La Bombas with relative ease...
I think I read somewhere before (I think on this forum maybe?) that Drew Estate soaks the leftover leaf and stem and then sprays that concentrate back on to some of their tobacco, as to produce a smokier, fuller bodied smoke. I must admit, if true, that kind of upsets the tobacco purist within me, however it's not like it's flavoring - and if it leads to a far more intense smoking experience, then hot damn! Spray away!! (Yeah, yeah, I know.) Besides, for me there is a time an a place for everything, (except flavored cigars) including an extra strong Frankenstogie now and then! |

Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
AJF Bellas Artes Toro (spell correct suggested Bella's Artie, I was inclined to stick with that) Okay so this is 4/5 of a 5er I snagged online a while back, I think I can safely pass judgement at this point....pleasant stick, starts out with some intense flavorful pepper, but quickly mellows out to a general caramel base with occasional floral accents and a hint of pepper here and there. Solid medium body to start and ramps up to medium full about 1/3 the way in...very pleasant, but not particularly interesting to me. AJ has far more interesting cigars in his collection imo so unlikely I'll be buying more. |

Haha just saw this - I agree the Undercrown Shades are good! But for my taste, just not great....I mean they nail the traditional Connecticut profile very well, but if I'm going to smoke a CT I'd prefer that it have a little more....flair? To date I think probably the most interesting CT I've had is the My Father CT, and I honestly can't remember why - I just know I made a mental note that I like it more than most other CTs, so I'll be revisiting that one!

La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amore Reserva Maximo .. one of my go to cigars lately.
Tonight ... An old God of Fire Carlito that’s been in my humidor since 2008. Maybe after 11 or so years, I’ll like it better. My buddy back then was smoking them constantly and I guess I had a few in the back drawers. There’s a little wrapper damage but at the foot so shouldn’t be an issue after a few minutes lit. Found an Illusione Rothschild hiding under some other singles. So I set it on fire.

Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
AJF Last Call Toro - I knew I would like this one as I've enjoyed other last call sizes before but holy smokes am I glad I picked these up (unfortunately LE from Atlantic) Somehow it maintains all the intensity of the smaller last calls, while also complimenting the blend....I think it just gives you more time and more smoke to appreciate the nuances..probably one of the best cigars I've had this year, no joke...just wishing I had picked up more of these before they sold out. |
