Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Got it recorded to watch tonight. Froome has had some bad luck with crashes lately and it's too bad too. It would have been interesting to see if he could repeat.

Man that somersault crash was crazy! Good thing it happened into the brush at the end of the road otherwise that could have been way worse.

F'ing TdF is not available to watch online for free anywhere? I don't understand that one. Even NBS Sports does not have replay available online...
Figure the sponsors would be livid if millions can't watch the race.

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
I know my just getting a bike has peaked my interest, but I've been watching some of the TdF. Amazing what those guys can do. Yesterday, in that crap weather and with the cobblestones, they still managed 100 miles in ~3.3 hours. That's damn fast.

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Certainly the most demanding professional sport. These guys train like 400 miles a week. Heck, I don't like driving 200 miles a week!

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Yesterday's stage was amazing, wet narrow roads lined with people plus the cobbles. I know there were a lot of crashes, but i really enjoyed watching this stage. I just couldn't get over how bad the conditions were and these guys were flying. Wow, what a stage!

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Great ride by Tony martin yesterday to get the stage win and Tony Gallopin to get the yellow jersey from Nibali. Good to see a Frenchman with the yellow jersey on Bastille Day. The first mountain stage is today and it should be interesting to see what the GC contendors will do.

Such horrible news. Could care less who wins now.

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Big day in the Pyrenees today, wish I was at home to watch it. I have enjoyed the tour this year as a lot of young riders and some older riders have been getting stage wins since their team's GC contendors have dropped out. Barring a disaster, it does look like Nibali will win, but other spots on the podium could still change.

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
The young rider battle with the two french riders is pretty cool, them two going back and forth. I think these next two days will determine which of them wins it, since one of them struggled quite a bit to get in and lost time.

The battle between Pinot and Bardet for the white jersey has been fun to watch.

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
Great TT today and just shows even in a TT luck has a lot to do with it. Bardet lost his 5th place due to a puncture which required a bike change. Too bad for him but even though some favorites went out early I enjoyed watching this tour more then any I can remember recently. Hoping they let Jens Voigt lead them out onto the champs élysées tomorrow he's definitely earned it!

Re: Tour de France 2014 Banter
The tour was great this year, too bad Nibali couldn't race against Froome and Contador, but I think he is a worthy champion. He rode stage finishes to the end, finishing first and out distancing his competitors without other riders from his team. He finished 4th in the TT over a tough course putting more time between him and the other top finishers when he could have taken less risks knowing he already had the win nailed down. Next year should be interesting as there is a lot of young talent out there for the teams to support as contenders for all the jerseys.
My wife will be happy as I will stop blipping between the Tour and baseball. |
