Re: "True Detective"
One of the best season finales of any show I've seen. Had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the show. Wow. Just wow.

I don't think it will be anywhere close to as good without those two. They had such a great dynamic together.

I hope the writing for season 2 makes it close.

Re: "True Detective"
Started the other night w/episode 1. Wife and I have both fallen asleep two consecutive nights before finishing first one. Not much to hold our interest so far. I do like McConaughy - but, Harrelson's forced accent drives me nuts (much as Spacey's does in House of Cards.) We'll give it another go, but I do hope it picks up the pace a little.

Dave, it starts out slow, but there is a darkness lingering there that you have to stick with it for it to rear it's ugly head.

Re: "True Detective"
VERY surprised how "happy" the ending was, def thought is was going to end much more tragic! Very pleased, another thing that the director said that makes me love the show that reminds me of the old Hammer Horror films, that they never show the brutal/disgusting scenes it shows character reactions or pans out over the LA bayous, leaving it in your imagination what really happened and makes it that much scarier/disgusting! Loved that! GOT starts April 6th and as I mentioned earlier everyone check out Ripper Street on BBC America, try and find season one first if you can (might be on Netflix?) if not oh well start with season 2. you WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Re: "True Detective"
I realize this is a little old, but whatever.
The idea for the show was based on the old True Crime novels. So, yes, each "season" will be it's own story line. Further, each story isn't required to fill X number of episodes. This is something new as well. HBO is allowing the producer to produce the story/season as he sees fit. If he needs 10 episodes, then great. If it's only going to be 6... go with it. In essence, the prototypical "season" may not exist in this case. You may see multiple stories told within the same year. The theory that TV and cinema are slowly being bridged is rather apparent with this show. IMHO, we may look back in 10 years at True Detective and say this was the primer for the next genre of TV. I heard that mainstream cinema actors are absolutely lining up for an opportunity to star in one of these. Of course, take this all with a grain of salt. This is just what I have read and heard from the radio/blogs. I am really excited to see what happens next. Z |

Re: "True Detective"
Good stuff Zach. I was worried about season 2 with the fact that the actors werent coming back, but this news get's me excited again for it. Hopefully this info is correct. Could leave the door open for some pretty awesome TV.

Anyone else try slogging through the King in Yellow book?
I have been going bit by bit, and honestly, can't find enough references to really make it worthwhile so far. |
