New Nording
Found a cool Nording at a shop over the weekend and picked it up...it is unfinished with a bit of a pleateau...kind of interesting - anyway...putting it to work!
Anyone else have a Nording - anything I should know about them?

Re: New Nording
I am not answering your question till you post a picture.
OK, I'm not that mean. Nordings are like any other pipe. They may or may not need a long break-in period, depending on how they smoke. I have found the 2 that I owned previously to break-in easy and smoked well. They usually have a lot of wood and smoke fairly cool. To my tastes, they seemed to like Danish type blends the best. I presently have no Nordings, for I have lost my taste for freehands. That being said, I do see the beauty of them, just not hanging from my mouth. Peace of the Lord be with you.

I have a Nording Signature Freehand Natural nd I love it. I primarily smoke English blends and some flakes out of it. Great smoker.

Re: New Nording
If you would like a neat hint, it is this. A natural pipe will color naturally. BUT, you can also accelerate that process and make it unique. While you are smoking it, rub the warm bowl against your nose, picking up the oils on both sides of the nose and the bowl, then rub the oils in further with your thumb. The warming bowl as you smoke it and the natural oils will darken, often with a reddish or red-brown hint.
Just a thought. Peace of The Lord be with you.

Re: New Nording
Thanks Todd. I am enjoying watching it color on it's own...and really enjoying the canister of Frog Morton...(usually smoked Lane tobacco before)
