Default Cigar Drink Pairing Advice

Here is the lowdown I have a good friend who has been deployed to Qatar for the last six months. He will be home in less than ten days and I splurged and purchased four Padron 1926 80th Anniversay Maduros for his surprise homecoming party.

I'd like to know of a good drink, preferably Scotch, that would go with this cigar.

Doesn't matter what the cigar is when you have good scotch.

If you want to make it special, get a bottle of Yamazaki scotch. I you are a seasoned scotch drinker, you will love this stuff.

I tend to lean towards The Macallan myself.

And a night where your buddy comes home from the sandbox is the perfect time to buy the 18 year.

I have a little left in my second bottle of this. Correct me if I'm wrong PLEASE, but I don't think this is Scotch. It's a single malt whisky per their web page. http://www.suntory.com/yamazaki/main.html

I'll have to check my bottle at home (haven't had a drink in a while, at home at least) but I think this is what I'm currently working on. It is a very very nice bottle and anyone would be happy to have it. You can really get a taste of orange peels from this one.

Correct, it is Single Malt Whisky from Japan, only SMWs from Scotland can be called Scotch. If you really want to splurge, buy the Laphroig 30 yr. THe Balvenie 17 sherry cask is nice too but the Laph 30 is dynamite and very expensive.

never had the 30yr but Laphroig is my absolute favorite scotch, especially the quarter cask.

Thanks. That's what I found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotch_whisky under the Legal definition section and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotch_Whisky_Act_1988 under Scotch Whisky Act 1988.

Let me add that whatever you want to call it... Yamazaki is still very good with a cigar IMO.

Drambuie with any cigar or Amarula. These drinks enhance the flavor of any tobacco.

Old Ports are damn fine also. When they get old they are that clearish caramel color and oh so smooth tasting.

I find myself drinking aberlour 12(even over the abunahd) and mccallan fine oak 10(even over the 15). Both are stellar scotchs for any price but the fact that they are under 40 bucks is amazing. Lagavulin and talisker are my 2 great loves but I think that the first two pair better with a cigar.

I recently had a single malt called matisse 15 year which is pretty hard to find info on but was actually quite pleasant.
