Old pipes from storage
So I found some pipes in storage and was looking for information on one in particular. I have several pictures of each pipe and their markings. The blue ceramic bowl pipe is the one I'm most interested in information on.
Below is where the pictures are since i couldn't get them to attach to this post or link the URL: https://picasaweb.google.com/1148984...eat=directlink |

the metal stemmed one is a falcon pipe. some people really love them. the rusticated bent billiard is a basket pipe, nothing special. the parker I know nothing about. The blue ceramic bowled one doesnt look like the maker originally intended it to be used for tobacco.

Re: Old pipes from storage
The blue ceramic pipe is in a style known as Black Forest, very common in parts of Bavaria. My grandfather brought one home from the war although it was heavily carved and made entirely of wood with silver filigree and wind cap. You've got the bowl attached 180 degrees off in those pics btw, it should sit basically straight up and down parallel to the shank instead of out on an angle.

Re: Old pipes from storage
Outstanding!... thank you guys, very helpful information. My father picked them up over the years while driving truck around the country and they got put in a box and forgotten the past 10yrs or so. after finding the box, i figured I should know something about them. Now the only thing to figure out is do I sell them or put them in a display box on the wall.

The blue ceramic "black forest", "woodsmans", "hunters" or "jaeger" pipe is quite nice, but not valuable. They are commonly sold as tourist keepsakes but rarely smoked since the time they call "back in the day". Typical painted example:
