Default Looking for recommendations, Buenos Aires

Looks like I may be headed to Buenos Aires soon for approximately 3 weeks for work. Looking for any recommendations on places to stay, restaurants, things to do, places to see, cigar shops, etc. I'll be working in Pacheco if that helps with locales.

I know enough Espanol to know what Carlos has written will get me in trouble.

Thanks Steve. I'll be looking forward to your list.

Moi? Never!

BTW, I misspelled "tiene" thanks to autocorrect.

Ok, sorry for the delay....I was at work much longer than anticipated....wankers !

In any event, here's a couple of places to try...

BA has a whole gamut of food styles. Of course the one to have is the Parallada - a huge plate of wood cooked animal. You'll see the round fire pits in the windows of the restaurants with Vlad the Impaler-esque polls stuffed with cow surrounding it.

Cabana Las Lilas - excellent food and HUGE wine selection
Lupida - Mexican Tequila Bar....If it came from an agave; they have it.
Cafeteria El Canon - One of the best pastry bakeries in the city. It isn't a fancy place like the others down Calle Esmeralda or Calle Florida; but the quality is excellent.

Outside of those places, you'll find that for the most part; you can't go wrong anywhere. I have yet to have a bad meal down there.

As far as cigars go, there's only one shop that I ever go to - and of course I left the address at home; I'll update this post tonight with the details.

The one thing you'll find is that BA is not a cheap city. Even after the exchange rate prices are extremely high...Don't plan on finding any bargains. If you want to bring wine home (which you should !) wait until you get back to the airport. Prices at the Duty Free Wine Shop (which is massive) are easily 40-60% off of what you will see downtown.

Thanks Steve. Luckily I'll be going for work, so they'll be footing most of the bill.

BA is supposed to be an alternative lifestyle vacation mecca of South America. I'd imagine some of the nite clubs are pretty outrageous.
