Default Booze and Cigars?

Ok so I've been drinking forever. I used to drink ALOT, sun up to sun down. Been in trouble a few times over it, highest BAC I ever hit was .41. I never, ever throw up though, it's almost like a super power or something.

I also enjoy Cigars, especially strong ones that make me a bit lightheaded when I smoke them.

Problem is when I put the 2 together I get sick almost immediately. A few puffs and half a glass of good scotch and I'm like a 17yr old girl who just mixed red and white wine. I haven't thrown up from it but I have to go lie down with the AC turned up to prevent it.

What gives and can I fix this?

I was given some great advise by a fellow BOTL and it works.Take some of those small suger pack and down them before you start to smoke. It's easier to pervent that NIC sick then to stop it after it's started IMHO.

I'll give that a shot, cigars alone don't really bother me it just seems like when I mix it with booze is when it gets bad. I'll make sure to havea big meal tonight and some sugar before I smoke and see if that helps. Now I just have to decide what to drink, hmm scotch or rum.

Not like I do that any more my days of funneling grey goose on the beach are done . I have a wife and kid now and I usually have an old-fashioned glass filled with ice and whatever I happen to pour from my cabinet if I drink anything at all.

Strong cigars equal much higher nic content plus booze to allow quicker infusion of nic equal more reaction to the nicotine. The best I've found is to use the turbanodo sugar I use in my coffee. I put a teaspoon or so UNDER my tongue, which seems to work better than just eating sugar. Good luck!

It works just the opposite with me, if it is a strong a$$ that would normally give me a big buzz and I'm drinking with it (bourbon) then the cigar does not affect me as much.

Alcohol will raise your blood sugar so I figured that was the reason, and it just took the place of that. But who the hell really knows anything about the human body.

By the way I'm glad your survived the alcohol abuse you went through.

Hmm can your blood sugar be too high for cigar smoking?

Edit: According to http://www.acigarsmoker.com/cigar-faq/ the nausea/lightheadedness is from sugar being too high, which is not only counter to what I've heard so far, but also counterintuitive, on the other hand drinking lots of water does seem to help a bit.

I'm very close to buying a blood sugar monitor and enduring pinprick after pinprick to test this.

Me too, nothing like looking back on your late teens/early 20s and trying to count how many times you should've died.

Combining them both in high doses can really f**k you up. Ever do 23 shots and smoke a cigarette I rest my case.

When doing both moderation helps, although I'm not exactly the best candidate to preach such things. I too have drank more I care to mention but I've never been given a BAC test.

Getting sick immediately is weird I would suggest giving the drinking a break.

I would also suggest not getting drunk as $hit and smoking cigars but just having a drink or two while smoking can be very enjoyable.

Maybe try sipping on a strong/high gravity ale through the cigar, I'm talking over 10% abv. It has plenty of residual sugar still in the beer that didn't get fermented out. I usually drink beer with my cigars, but I also drink bourbon and that hasn't effected me negatively.
