Default Travel humidor recommendation needed...

I've decided to get something in the way of a cool manly-man's travel humidor, preferably one that is aluminum with a handle.
Need to replace my current bright red, waterproof, neoprene zippered metro looking cigar bag. Seems some brothers think it looks, ahem, metro...
Works pretty damn good at the jetties and beach for carrying the sticks and keeping them right. Still, need to look 007 cool when I go out - away from the water. Don't want to duplicate Remo with his man-bag situation! Suggestions, dudes?

CIGAR CARRIER... not a murse! See - even has fish guts on it! I swear Mike, if you laugh, I'll put bad mojo on your fishing and your next cigar will be a dog-rocket!

There are only a couple choices if you are going aluminum, too far out of my price range right now, I'd rather spend it on cigars. Also there are a few friends that haul cigars around in various gallon sized ziplock bags, so it's just a matter of personal preference.

This is what a lot of the guys have, this or the next smaller version.

Rob,

The commonly seen aluminum one that many of us have is made by Halliburton. The one with the trays, humidifer and such is "The Ambassador" by Cigar Classics, the equivalent camera case from Halliburton (without the cigar trays) is model 130_, where _ could be C=brushed silver ("chrome?") and B = Black. I've also seen them in gold and red, although I'm not sure what their color codes are or if red is even a stock color.

Your best bet is eBay and patience. New, they are stupid expensive.

There is also a 9 or 10 (depends on the vintage) fold open hand case called "The Diplomat" that holds 4 or 5 cigars on one side and 5 on the other in molded slots with a magnetic latching bar/rail. They are nice, but they are bigger than they look. When I bought mine, I was expecting something not much bigger than a Xikar or Cigar Caddy 5-count. Boy was I in for a shock. Once I got past the shock of "chit, I don't want to lug this monstrosity around" I've grown to love the case. Nine cigars at my fingertips, no rummaging or lifting out trays.

Here's a Diplomat:

an Ambassador:

And the 130, which the seller describes only as 9x12.
http://tinyurl.com/nkvuras
(I looked for these on Hali's website, I think they might be discontinued too)

You can usually pick that up from the Devil Site for around 30 bucks. If you get one be sure to air out the foam trays for a few days.

Oh, and ya dude, that's a purse.

I'm gonna pretend I didn't see your handbag.

Look, this is super easy.
You have the Pelican Storm im2050 and the Halliburton Ambassador.
They are top shelf, none better.

At a time, we here at CA had a couple im2050's on each of four different USCG Cutters.
We kept them full of cigars and pipe smoking stuff, and those boys spread the love throughout the Persian Gulf.
They just threw them around on racks like the rest of their stuff.
Truly. Badass. Case.
Above all others.

The one Adam posted, they're like 50 bucks. They used to be real thin and crappy, I wouldn't suggest them to anyone. The new pics look like they sell a better case now, and it looks a lot like Xikar's. It probably isn't.
Famous smokes sells them.

Xikar has a bigger one, I have it. Love it.
I can get 100 smokes and all my gear in there, easy. You're around $100 on this one.
Lifetime warranty. Xikar takes care of us brothers. I'd recommend it in a second.

The Pelican Storm im2050 kicks every single plastic case to the curb, by a longshot.
I wish everyone could just see one of these things, and then any other case.
You can find them for 60 bucks shipped. That price is the value of a lifetime.
If you insist on pink, they have pink, but you're lookin at $110 shipped.

This is exactly the one I'd buy.
where that hard foam is cut, I'd cut it out and slide lighters in there.
I'd do the same with a cutter in the front.
Light and hygrometer in the lid, done.
You don't need any of that extra crap, but it sure makes nice to build out your travel humi.

Then, when you're flush, get that Halliburton. They're like a "dress case".

You could also check with Brendon (screen name: 363), he works for an SKB case dealer and at one point was even able to get some custom artwork done. SKB cases are some of the best when it comes to polycarbonate cases and are a few levels above Pelican in terms of quality.

I posted in search of a case last year and 363 hooked me up. They're sweet cases.

Agree with the above.

Contact 363. He put one together for me. i keep 5-6 fiver finger bags in there and toss in 2-3 Boveda 65% bags under the bottom foam.

This one is about 14"L x 10"W x 5"D and like i said i usually keep 5 or 6 5-finger bags in there with my lighters and cutter.
