Way to date your tins
If you purchase pipe tobacco tins from SmokingPipes.com, there is a history of your purchases with dates, etc. You can print out and have the ages of your tins right at hand. If course, multiples of the same items that are bought at different times will need an ID on the tin itself. Not sure if other suppliers do the same, but I suspect they do.

Nice way to do it. I have never marked a tin. Probably should've. I have no idea the ages on some of mine.

Re: Way to date your tins
When I buy tobacco I always put dates on it somehow, usually just writing it on some portion of the tin or whatever else is the packaging. If it is a tin, I use a permanent marker on the bottom of the tin and the date I received it. If it is bulk, whatever I package it in gets the same sort of treatment - I put a label on the tobacco and write the date when I received it on the label.
