Default Ritual Smokes

Here is a question for everyone

Describe a time when you ritually smoke a cigar. Some place or when you are doing something that without a cigar you would be missing something special.

For me one of my times is right now. I am sitting down to write a sermon for this Sunday and in the tradition of Charles Spurgeon; the cigar gets lit, a little libation gets poured and I begin my writing process. I've usually spent all week praying and making notes and then when the time is right I sit down to do this

If I didn't have the cigar then it would feel like I was missing something. I guess it is kind of like my Old Testament "Burnt Offering"

Winding down at night after a hockey game, Whether the team is hanging out at the rink, BBQing and drinking, or I am at home alone, I always smoke one after a game.

Playing golf. I've played one round of golf in the last year without a cigar or 3.

Tailgates just don't feel the same with out a couple smokes. Same with work. Unless I'm actively busy with something that requires both hands(which isn't much on the job) I have to have something lit. And even then sometimes I'll still be smoking one.

Every Friday we have what we call "Dog Day", where we bring the dogs over to a friends home and smoke a cigar while the dogs run/play. There are usually a few drinks involved.....

On a sad note, yesterday was the first "Dog Day" we have had since we lost one of the members, a 170lb English Mastiff named Cora that succumbed to cancer on Monday.

New Years Eve. A good friend and I always fire one up (or two or three) as we say goodbye to the old year, and give a big howdy to the new one. We'll have a New Years cigar together as long as we're able to.

Sitting on my porch with my favorite smoke and a drink watching my boys play in the yard. Love watching them catch fireflies this time of year.

hanging out with my brother. we're both in the Air Force now, and we don't really get to hang out that much. So every time we hang out now, we burn through cigars like its our job.

Sitting on my back patio, either Thursday or Friday night (depending if I worked a long week), with classical music, my iPad, and an IBC root beer.

I smoke during Sunset or in the evening with my best friends in a gazebo over-looking the Thames River...usually after a tough week, or just to celebrate another day completed at the Academy

That is how it was down range for us too. An evening when it was quiet enough to get together and decompress

Keep plugging along at the academy. It is a life you will not regret

One of the best decisions I've ever made. It's tough, but man it is one heck of an experience so far.

There is a restaurant/bar...ok, mostly bar within walking distance (I dont drive anymore) on the lake. I love to hang out there in the evenings and enjoy a cigar or three on their patio and watch the sun go down. Not sure if I can go there and not burn a cigar or two. The bartenders often join me if it's slow so I generally bring my 15 count holder. Usually come back considerably lighter. Great place.

When I lost my Grandfather who lived across the country, I went home from work early, walked to a local graveyard and smoked a cigar reflecting on what my grandfather's life meant to me. It was my way of saying goodbye, and I will never forget what that cigar meant to me.
