Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
Alright these are a little something that I know has been reviewed, but Mike and I don't get a chance that often to get together anymore. Work is kinda pain in the ass about getting in the way, but I am sure everyone has the same problem.
Anyway we have been talking about having one of these together for a while, so that have been sitting in the Humidor asking to be smoked for a couple of months now. I am pairing it up with a reheated steak that I had in the fridge with a little bit of Hinez 57 sauce (it ain't A1, but it is what we have here) and a Dr.Pepper. It is pretty damn windy and the sand storm... well, just blows.... Here we go hope you all enjoy Time for a light

Re: Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
Yeah, this wind is making it a little less than idea for a big-gauge smoke like this one. It's probably about 58-gauge, and my personal preference is to save those big ring sizes for nice, calm weather.
Now, I know 5-Vegas isn't super well received in some circles, but I have a fondness for them. The first cigar I can really remember having a few years ago that made me go, "Hot dang! These cigar things are pretty good!" was a 5-Vegas classic (with the red wrapper) and I still hold those in a fairly high esteem, although I know they aren't always considered to have the pedigree of some of the competition. But, as a Wise One once said to me (ah,hem, Scott!), "smoke what you like and like what you smoke." So, yeah, well, I tend to like 5-Vegas. Now, with that out, last time I had one of these black-label A-Series smokes, it was NOT good for me. That means I'm coming into this one with a little trepidation.... |

The Light off
Outside temp is mid to high 90s, and it feels cool with the breeze Time: 1940 So it is really windy out here, imagine that right. We had to light our cigars with butane. After a nice toast on the foot and finally got this massive thing lit. I got got a nice roll of smoke coming out. The first taste is of....??? Peppered Steak, but I think that maybe my fault.

But, thankfully, that part burned out pretty quickly. Seems to be happening to me a lot lately, which might hint of storage issues maybe? Anyway, this thing mellowed out right quick. Nice and smooth, great rolls of smoke, and a sharp but not brutal spice to it. Good flavor, nice and cool, and more than enough flavor to compete with the Dr. Pepper we're having at the same time. |

Time: 2015
1/3 down So I feel as if I am burning this thing down pretty fast tonight. It maybe a little dry but doesn't taste it. The taste on this thing is well great, I have enjoyed these cigars since Scott sent them over here to us. I gave about 15 of them out the other night to a bunch of the guys and they all liked them. I am tasting the spice of this cigar and this thing is smooth.

Re: Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
I'm at maybe 30 minutes in, maybe more, and have killed more than half of this stick already. It's a good one, that's for sure...going a long way to healing the wounds of that last bad one I had.
After this killer weekend, finally sitting down, taking it easy, and having a good cigar's starting to put me into something just shy of a coma. Pretty sure this is the good cure for what work's done to me the last few days! The flavor has mellowed out a little bit. It's not as spicy and sharp, although there's still hints of that, but now I've got more of the ceder flavor coming along. Still lots of smoke despite the wind (which might be contributing to the fast burn) but it's not running hot, which is good. |

I think I am at the same right now, the cedar is really coming in. To be honest this is a great smoke tonight.

Re: Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
Heh...I'm done. It was a great smoke, exactly what I needed for the end of the day. Wish I could find a good way to describe how this thing finished off....it was mellow, complex and flavorful, but did get a tiny bit acidic towards the end. I don't know if I can really blame the cigar for that, or the food/soda/sand blowing around, whatever.
I'm pretty sure I'll try one of these out again Real Soon Now and see if I can round out my description of this one a little more. Either that, or I might try to get my hands on a "Classic" to see how that compares - it's been a while for me. Final verdict? Yup, it was good! |

Re: Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
Sounds a bit dry from your description of the initial light Mike, but if it doesn't bother y'all why fix it? You know the old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Glad you guys were able to get back together and smoke one. Stay safe over there guys |

Re: Shawn and Mike's Cigar review- 5 Vegas "A"
Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, too...that maybe it was starting to dry out but hadn't really done much damage past the very end yet. Regardless, I'm glad it came back to life right away.
