Default Creating my Smoking Lounge!

So I convinced the wif that she really needed an at home Smoking Lounge and now I'm moving forward with the project. In it...I'll have my kegerator, which flows with my own (generally) tasty beer, my humidor, a dart board and a flat panel tv. Seems like it could be damn near perfect. Figured I'd share the progress with you guys!

The back half of my garage will be the room I'm using, and here is the beginning of the dividing wall:

The frame completed

My buddy Matt giving a helping hand...easily bribed with a few cigars and some beer.

The outer wall complete

Getting the insulation in so this can be a 4 season room.

I'm getting into the action...with my flashy work jeans.

My neighbor Jake doing his part...more cigars and beers out the window

Moving right along

First layer of mudding done...ran out of time this weekend to get the work done.

Gonna put in ventilation on the back wall. Still researching the right option. In my head, getting something as simple as a bathroom fan would work in a room this small. I should be able to just pipe that outside and be fine.

Got the primer coat painted in the room. Now it's time for the exhaust fans. Any recommendations for quiet, powerful and reasonably priced fans is welcome!

Your room was the inspiration for my garage room! (Which is still a work in progress, and likely will be for some time!)

Amazing job!

I spent a lot of time on that website when trying to design my room. Thanks for taking the time to make all that information available

Mark's brother used an adjustable 1200 cfm fan. He said they never turned it above 50%, even with 3 guys smoking in there. I forget the dimensions of his room but it would be a good guide.

The most important thing I've read for reducing noise it putting the fan as far from the room as possible, having it pull the air through the duct and push it outside.

In my oppinon, bathroom fans dont pull the scfm needed. I looked into various ventilation forms for my own room, and ended up making a home made system. I hung a boxed gable fan from the rafters in my attic space, and plumbed it to the room. It pulls something like 1500 cfm, and cost me a total of 100 bucks. And because it is hanging from the rafters, it is virtually silent.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I came to the same conclusion Troy...I was going to do a bathroom fan but I don't think it will pull enough. I want at least a 1000 cfm fan. I think I found a fan, or type of fan, that will work well.

These are wall mounted, from the inside, and have a cover. It's capacity is 1500 cfm and it seems like it will be relatively quiet. I found a few varieties of these and the only thing this is missing is a speed control. I might look for that. If any one is interested in more research on this fan, here it is: http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hv...hutter-mounted
