Default Cigar Spills

Hey All:

I have a friend who owns a company that makes custom cigar spills and from what I've seen on his website, they're pretty cool. I've noticed that the cigar shops I buy from in my area don't carry spills at all and was thinking about asking my friend if I could help him market in my area. However, I'm not sure just how popular of a product they are so I wanted to get your opinion on them first. I'm probably going to order a batch for myself to try out first, but the opinions of others is what matters most. What's your thoughts / experience?

I have never used them but have wanted to. I don't think I would pay for them however, not a neccesity.

Many cigar boxes come with cedar sheets that are used to separate the rows. Break them up and you have free cedar spills. No need to purchase spills. Many of the lounges Ive been to have them already broken up for customer use

Now youre going to ask why use a cedar spill... it is an elegant, ritualistic way to light a cigar, however it really is only effective when used indoors.

Have I used a spill, yes. Is it convenient, no. Did I notice a difference, none.

I've never tried one. For me it would come down to cost and convenience vs. reward. If the cost was low and the reward, a better smoke, was high I'd get some. However, if the smoke wasn't much better I'd stick to the lighter as it's easier to carry and cheaper.

I've never been a big fan of spills, as they're rather imprecise and can also leave a lot of combustion residue all over the end of your cigar. In this day of butane torch-flame lighters, I can't bring myself to use anything else unless I have to. An odorless and almost windproof flame you can place exactly where you like for peanuts prices... why go anywhere else?

Here I was thinking it might be some kind of bib to keep ash spills off your clothing.

Had me all excited.

I seldom use a spill, but have on occassion. The last couple of times have been with an Anejo, using the cedar the cigar was wrapped in.
